Cars in German City Discovered Marked with Swastikas in Human Blood, Police Report

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Officers stated they were alerted by a man who found a automobile in Hanau smeared with red-colored substance

Around 50 automobiles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau near Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were vandalized, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement report they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a resident noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the shape of a banned symbol, they added.

Law enforcement then found many other vandalized vehicles and house walls in the adjacent neighborhood.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under laws prohibiting the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Law enforcement say preliminary tests show the substance was probably human bodily fluid.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; authorities are currently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were attempting "to resolve the incident" and have requested to the residents for tips.

A senior political figure stated the vandalism made him without words and needed to be resolved rapidly.

"This event strikes at the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the far-right terrorist attack half a decade ago," he posted on online, recalling the killing of nine victims by a shooter aiming at people of foreign heritage in February 2020.
