Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers growing in influence within the city.
Heads-up: Spoilers for the third episode of this adventure lie ahead.
The Warrior Group Revealed
Episode 3 finished on a major cliffhanger and presented the premier party of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their independent quest, separate from the other two tables.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor (played by the voice actor), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the opening chapters of the new season serve as an Overture, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Fighters, Planners, and Seekers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the combat-focused party is for participants who prefer a classically intense fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the hesitant healer Wicander might appear mismatched, but the developments of the latest installment show why these five characters are ideally matched for the warrior group.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the group has a clear idea where to go next after a brutal first encounter with the enemy group.
Casimir of the deceased character—whose demise started the campaign’s events—manipulated The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, breaking into the secret base, assaulting Thimble, and swiping all the powerful objects to sell off.
The antagonist then paid off his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the urban setting:
- Thimble, as the close ally and trusted friend, desires revenge.
- The adventurer has experience in the region and warns that it is a nasty place.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
- However, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could help the group enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The grateful character swore a life debt to The cleric for his deliverance and will now follow him anywhere.
Fugitives
Lastly, all of them are hunted by the powers that govern Dol-Makjar for a range of causes, making staying in the city too risky:
- Thimble and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are partnered with.
- Teor is wanted dead by the clan.
This means them few options but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight players to assemble the Questers and Schemers tables.
Audiences can anticipate finding out which characters will be in which group in the season’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
